The British Museum is first and foremost a museum of human history and culture. It houses more than thirteen million items originating from all continents of the world. It attracts over four million visitors a year, and with the extensive galleries, it’s not surprising! It is situated on Great Russell Street and the nearest tube stations are Holborn and Tottenham Court Road.

There are tours and guides available in sign language, the hard of hearing and guide dogs are also permitted.
There are disable facilities including toilets and a cloak room and there is even a specific car park for disabled visitors with a limited number of parking spaces so you may want to call and pre-arrange.

It was established in 1753 and was largely based on collections of the physician and scientist, Sir Hans Sloane. Currently, it has a vast amount of art and culture from all over the world and houses over 13 million different objects from many continents of the world.

You can travel to this museum via one of six underground stations, bus or by train. Because the British Museum is centered in the Congestion Charge area, you would not be advised to drive to this location, and the only parking spaces the Museum has to offer are for disabled residents.
